I Remember
| Johnny Long | I'll never forget Rufus Bolger, our HS Principle. Readers Digest always had a recurring article entitled "The Most Memorable Character I Have Met". Mr. Bolger is definitely the most memorable character I have ever met, and fondly so. Once he came into an algebra class, took a wire coat hanger and held the hook up to his eye and said "People say that if you look through this and see your grandmother in a bathing suit, you wouldn't recognize her". I'll always wonder what he meant. |
| Charles Haley | When we were Seniors, the band sold candy for a fund
raiser. One day myself, Larkin, Anna, and I think Sue Scott got permission
to leave school and go on an errand for the candy drive. As I was driving in
Mt. Vernon, Larkin (always doing something) opened the glove box of my Moms
car and found a box of matches. She lit one and threw it out the window of
the car, laughing up a storm. However, when we looked back we saw that the
grass on the side of the road was on fire. I quickly turned around and we
had to stomp out the fire. I then confiscated the matches from Larkin.

| Jeanette O'Neal | I remember several of our teachers said that our class was an exceptional group of people in that we were gifted and talented beyond the ordinary classes they taught. Could it be that our teachers were right? Looking through the classmate photos, I understand what the teachers saw. Know I do not say this to brag, but with a humble spirit say "Thank You" to the teachers who told us we were exceptional and gave us a positive vision for the future. |
